Hear it first, not second-hand
An artist you love has been teasing a track for weeks. It goes up at midnight on a Friday, and you find out the next morning from a screenshot in the group chat. By then everyone has had their first listen and moved on.
A drop alarm gives you the moment itself: the track lands, your phone rings, and you're one of the first to hear it. It's a small thing, but it's the difference between being there and hearing about it.
How to make a drop alarm
- Ask Rocco, or paste the link. Say who you want in plain words, or paste the artist's profile link from SoundCloud. A link to one of their tracks works too: it means that track's artist.
- Pick the right artist. Rocco shows you the artists he found, with each one's name, followers and number of tracks. Nothing is made until you choose. This matters because fan pages and reuploads often use the same name.
- Choose what counts. Any new track, or only an album or EP. You can narrow it further in your own words, for example "only a remix".
- Choose who it's for. Just you, your friends, or the public. More on that below.
What counts as a drop
A drop is a new public track on the artist's SoundCloud profile. If you picked albums and EPs, single tracks don't ring it.
One SoundCloud profile is one artist. If an artist also releases under a side project with its own profile, make a second drop alarm for that one.
When it rings
LFG's own sound rings, not the track, so it's loud and the same every time. The ring screen shows the track's cover. Tap Play the drop and it plays right inside the app, with the artist credited and a link to the track on SoundCloud.
Slept through it? The drop waits for you in the Daily drop, the tab the app opens on, and you can play it from there.
How loud it rings depends on the phone:
- Android: a full-screen alarm, even on Do Not Disturb.
- iPhone: a time-sensitive alert with the alarm's sound. It can come through Focus but respects the silent switch, so keep the ringer on if you're waiting on a big release.
- A laptop: it rings in an open lfg.gm tab too, while the laptop is awake and online. See alarms on your laptop.
What it costs
Watching SoundCloud costs no credits, and a drop alarm doesn't count against your plan, the same as an alarm for a YouTube channel.
Better with friends
If your friends love the same artist, share the alarm and everyone riding rings at the same moment. Each person picks how loud it is for them. See how to ring your friends together when your favourite artist drops.
Ask your AI to set it up
If you use an AI app such as Claude or ChatGPT with the LFG Alarm connector, it can make the drop alarm for you.
Have your AI agent make it.
Paste this into ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or any AI agent that can add a connector, not into the LFG Alarm app. The setup steps come with it: get the LFG Alarm app, connect it to your agent once, and your agent makes the alarm in your account.
Make me a SoundCloud drop alarm for Fred again.., I always miss his releases and want to hear the next one the minute it's out.
Already have the LFG Alarm app and connected it to your AI agent?
Why it works. It names the artist and says why, so your AI app sets a drop alarm on his SoundCloud profile. Connect LFG Alarm to your AI app first: see [AI agents](/agents).
Common mistakes
- Picking the wrong profile. Check the followers and track count before you choose. The real artist usually has far more of both than a fan page.
- Expecting the track to be the ring. LFG's sound rings; the track is one tap away.
- An iPhone on silent. A drop alarm respects the silent switch on iPhone.
- Narrowing it too far. "Only a remix" skips everything else the artist posts. Leave it on any new track if you want them all.
