How to wake up to a SoundCloud song

To wake up to a SoundCloud song, open an alarm's sound in LFG Alarm, go to the SoundCloud tab and pick a track from a shelf or search for one. You don't need a SoundCloud account or a subscription. LFG Alarm is a social alarm clock for iPhone, Android and lfg.gm in a browser. At the ring the song streams from SoundCloud, and if it can't start, you wake up to LFG's own song instead, so the alarm is never silent.

Why the first song of the day matters

The first thing you hear sets the tone for the next hour. A harsh beep gets you up, but it starts the day in a panic. A song you chose, a slow lofi track on a Sunday or a house track before the gym, gets you up in the mood you wanted.

SoundCloud is where a lot of that music lives: bedroom producers, DJ mixes, remixes and artists who post there first. Now any of it that SoundCloud lets play in full can be the thing that wakes you.

How to set a SoundCloud song as your alarm

  1. Make an alarm in LFG Alarm, or open one you made.
  2. Open its sound and go to the SoundCloud tab.
  3. Browse a shelf, or search for an artist or a song. Tap a track to hear it first.
  4. Pick it. The songs you've picked before stay at the top, ready for your next alarm.

It works the same on Android, on iPhone and on the website at lfg.gm.

The shelves

If you don't have a song in mind, start with a shelf. There are eleven: Morning, Lofi, Chill, House, Drum & bass, Workout, Indie, Jazz hop, Synthwave, Afro house and Ambient.

A rough guide: Morning, Lofi, Jazz hop and Ambient for a gentle start; Chill and Indie for a normal weekday; House, Afro house, Drum & bass, Synthwave and Workout for the mornings you need to be moving in two minutes.

What happens when it rings

  • It streams. The phone plays the track from SoundCloud at the moment the alarm goes off, so it needs a connection.
  • It has a backup. If the song can't start within 8 seconds, because you're offline or the track is gone, LFG's own song rings instead.
  • It plays alone. A voiceover (a spoken line LFG can play over an alarm's music) doesn't play over a SoundCloud song. Pick one or the other.

When you want the moment, not just the morning

A SoundCloud song as your alarm sound is about waking up well. If what you really want is to know the second an artist puts out something new, that's a different alarm: a drop alarm, which rings when the artist posts. See how to get an alarm when an artist drops new music on SoundCloud, and if your friends are as into them as you are, how to ring your friends together when your favourite artist drops.

Ask your AI to set it up

If you use an AI app such as Claude or ChatGPT with the LFG Alarm connector, it can make the alarm for you. You then pick the SoundCloud song in the app.

try this

Have your AI agent make it.

Paste this into ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or any AI agent that can add a connector, not into the LFG Alarm app. The setup steps come with it: get the LFG Alarm app, connect it to your agent once, and your agent makes the alarm in your account.

Use LFG Alarm to set a repeating time alarm for 7:30 on weekdays called Slow start. I want to wake up to a lofi song from SoundCloud instead of a beep, so tell me where to pick the song in the app.

Already have the LFG Alarm app and connected it to your AI agent?

Why it works. It makes the time alarm, then sends you to the SoundCloud tab, where you choose the song yourself. Connect LFG Alarm to your AI app first: see [AI agents](/agents).

Common mistakes

  • Wi-Fi off at night. The song streams, so with no connection you'll hear LFG's own song. That still wakes you, but it isn't the track you picked.
  • A track with a long, quiet start. You wake to the first seconds. Tap a track to hear how it opens before you pick it.
  • Expecting your voiceover too. It's off while a SoundCloud song is the sound.
