Before you start
- Get the LFG Alarm app on your phone from Google Play or the App Store, and sign in. Your AI agent makes the alarms; the app is what rings them.
- Windsurf is Devin Desktop now. Cognition renamed it on 2 June 2026 with an ordinary update. New tabs start with the Devin Local agent; the older Cascade agent is still there for existing chats. Both read MCP servers from config files, and the steps below work for either.
- Have your LFG Alarm sign-in handy. You sign in once, on lfg.gm.
Connect it
- Open the MCP config file. In a Cascade chat, open the ... menu at the top right of the panel and click Open MCP config file. Or open it directly:
- macOS and Linux:
~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json - Windows:
%APPDATA%\devin\mcp_config.json
- macOS and Linux:
- Add LFG Alarm. Leave out any headers, so the agent uses the sign-in:
{ "mcpServers": { "lfg-alarm": { "url": "https://mcp.lfg.gm" } } }
Cascade's docs write the address as serverUrl and say url works too; Devin's own config uses url.
- Save, then start a new chat. When the server shows Needs auth, click Authenticate. A browser opens on lfg.gm: sign in with your LFG Alarm account and tap Allow.
Older Devin versions kept MCP servers in ~/.config/devin/config.json. If the file above is ignored, update the app. These steps follow Cognition's own docs; if a label differs, look for MCP servers in the agent's settings.
Use it in a chat
Devin Local asks before each MCP tool call unless you allow it for the session or for good. Cascade does not ask by default.
Use it for the waits: a long migration, a test matrix, a release. Theo asks for a one-off alarm when a database migration should be done and steps away from the desk. For a ring when the job really ends, ask the agent to make an anything alarm and add a curl -X POST to its private link as the last step of the script. See How to make any app, script or feed ring your phone.
Try it
Have your AI agent make it.
Paste this into ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or any AI agent that can add a connector, not into the LFG Alarm app. The setup steps come with it: get the LFG Alarm app, connect it to your agent once, and your agent makes the alarm in your account.
Use LFG Alarm to set a one-off time alarm for 30 minutes from now called "Migration should be done". Then tell me the date and time it will ring.
Already have the LFG Alarm app and connected it to your AI agent?
Why it works. A one-off from now for a wait in the editor, and the agent tells you the exact time.
More ideas: "Wake me at 7:00 every weekday and call it Standup", "Make a friends alarm for Friday at 4:00pm called Release and add my friends [username] and [username]", or "List my alarms". See Using LFG Alarm from your AI agent for everything it can do.
If it does not work
- No sign-in prompt. Check the address is exactly
https://mcp.lfg.gm, start a new chat, and look for Authenticate on the server in the MCP list. - You would rather use a key. In LFG Alarm, open Settings > Connected AI apps > Make a key, then add
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:LFG_ALARM_KEY}" }with the key in that environment variable. A key acts as you; keep it out of project files you share. - Still stuck? Write to us from the support page.
