# Connect LFG Alarm to Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

AI agents · https://lfg.gm/agents/windsurf · Updated 2026-10-19

To connect LFG Alarm to Windsurf, which is now called Devin Desktop, add `https://mcp.lfg.gm` to the MCP config file at `~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json` and sign in with your LFG Alarm account when the agent asks. Then ask the agent for an alarm while you code ("ring me when this deploy should be done"), and it rings on your phone. LFG Alarm is a social alarm clock for iPhone and Android.

## Before you start

- **Get the LFG Alarm app on your phone** from Google Play or the App Store, and sign in. Your AI agent makes the alarms; the app is what rings them.
- **Windsurf is Devin Desktop now.** Cognition renamed it on 2 June 2026 with an ordinary update. New tabs start with the Devin Local agent; the older Cascade agent is still there for existing chats. Both read MCP servers from config files, and the steps below work for either.
- Have your LFG Alarm sign-in handy. You sign in once, on lfg.gm.

## Connect it

1. Open the MCP config file. In a Cascade chat, open the **...** menu at the top right of the panel and click **Open MCP config file**. Or open it directly:
   - macOS and Linux: `~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json`
   - Windows: `%APPDATA%\devin\mcp_config.json`
2. Add LFG Alarm. Leave out any headers, so the agent uses the sign-in:

```json
{ "mcpServers": { "lfg-alarm": { "url": "https://mcp.lfg.gm" } } }
```

Cascade's docs write the address as `serverUrl` and say `url` works too; Devin's own config uses `url`.

3. Save, then start a new chat. When the server shows **Needs auth**, click **Authenticate**. A browser opens on lfg.gm: sign in with your LFG Alarm account and tap **Allow**.

Older Devin versions kept MCP servers in `~/.config/devin/config.json`. If the file above is ignored, update the app. These steps follow Cognition's own docs; if a label differs, look for MCP servers in the agent's settings.

## Use it in a chat

Devin Local asks before each MCP tool call unless you allow it for the session or for good. Cascade does not ask by default.

Use it for the waits: a long migration, a test matrix, a release. Theo asks for a one-off alarm when a database migration should be done and steps away from the desk. For a ring when the job really ends, ask the agent to make an anything alarm and add a `curl -X POST` to its private link as the last step of the script. See [How to make any app, script or feed ring your phone](https://lfg.gm/webhook-alarm).

## Try it

**Try this.** Paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or another AI agent that has the LFG Alarm connector (https://mcp.lfg.gm), not into the LFG Alarm app. The person needs the LFG Alarm app on their phone.

> Use LFG Alarm to set a one-off time alarm for 30 minutes from now called "Migration should be done". Then tell me the date and time it will ring.

Why it works: A one-off from now for a wait in the editor, and the agent tells you the exact time.

More ideas: "Wake me at 7:00 every weekday and call it Standup", "Make a friends alarm for Friday at 4:00pm called Release and add my friends [username] and [username]", or "List my alarms". See [Using LFG Alarm from your AI agent](https://lfg.gm/wiki/ai-agents) for everything it can do.

## If it does not work

- **No sign-in prompt.** Check the address is exactly `https://mcp.lfg.gm`, start a new chat, and look for **Authenticate** on the server in the MCP list.
- **You would rather use a key.** In LFG Alarm, open **Settings** > **Connected AI apps** > **Make a key**, then add `"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:LFG_ALARM_KEY}" }` with the key in that environment variable. A key acts as you; keep it out of project files you share.
- **Still stuck?** Write to us from the [support page](https://lfg.gm/support).

## Questions

### Is this a different app from Windsurf?
No. Devin Desktop is the same editor, renamed. Your settings and extensions carried over.

### How does it ring?
A time alarm is a real alarm on iPhone and Android and rings through silent mode. An anything alarm rings full screen on Android; on iPhone it arrives as a time-sensitive alert with the alarm's sound, so keep the ringer on.

### Does LFG Alarm see my code?
No. LFG Alarm only receives what the agent sends when it uses LFG Alarm's tools.

## About LFG Alarm

LFG Alarm is a social alarm clock for iPhone, iPad and Android. It rings for times and for moments (a post on X, a stream going live, a token price, a wallet buying, an event starting), and one shared link makes every phone that joined ring together. Rocco, the cat inside the app, keeps watch and wakes you up.
