Before you start
- Get the LFG Alarm app on your phone from Google Play or the App Store, and sign in. The local model makes the alarms; the app is what rings them.
- A model that can call tools. Small local models often ignore tools or fill them in wrong. A model with tool use in its card, and a context window of 16k or more, works far better.
- A personal key, since these apps connect with a header rather than a sign-in.
Your model runs on your machine, but setting an alarm means a call to LFG Alarm's server: the request leaves your computer, the way any remote MCP tool does. LFG Alarm only receives the tool calls, never the rest of the chat.
Make a key
- In LFG Alarm, open Settings > Connected AI apps, on lfg.gm or in the app.
- Tap Make a key, name it after the app (for example "LM Studio"), and tap Make the key.
- The key is shown once, with Copy and Done. Copy it, then tap Done.
Keys start with lfg_pat_ and work only at the LFG Alarm MCP server. A key acts as you: keep it in your own app on your own machine.
LM Studio
LM Studio 0.3.17 or later. The quickest way is the install link, which opens LM Studio with LFG Alarm filled in: Add LFG Alarm to LM Studio. Then open mcp.json and replace lfg_pat_YOUR_KEY with your key.
Or by hand: in the right-hand sidebar open Program > Install > Edit mcp.json, and add this inside "mcpServers":
"lfg-alarm": {
"url": "https://mcp.lfg.gm",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer lfg_pat_YOUR_KEY"
}
}
Save, then turn LFG Alarm on in the chat's tools. LM Studio asks before each tool call unless you allow it.
Msty
In Msty Studio, open Toolbox > Add New Tool. Choose HTTP (Streamable HTTP, for remote servers). URL: https://mcp.lfg.gm. Under Headers, add Authorization with the value Bearer lfg_pat_YOUR_KEY. Save, then switch the tool on in a chat. Msty Studio on the web needs Studio Desktop connected through Remote Connections or Sidecar for tools.
AnythingLLM
AnythingLLM Desktop reads anythingllm_mcp_servers.json in its storage folder, under plugins (on a Mac, ~/Library/Application Support/anythingllm-desktop/storage/plugins/). Add LFG Alarm inside "mcpServers":
"lfg-alarm": {
"type": "streamable",
"url": "https://mcp.lfg.gm",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer lfg_pat_YOUR_KEY"
}
}
Open Agent Skills to start it, then use it in a chat with @agent.
Try it
Once LFG Alarm is switched on in a chat, ask:
Have your AI agent make it.
Paste this into ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or any AI agent that can add a connector, not into the LFG Alarm app. The setup steps come with it: get the LFG Alarm app, connect it to your agent once, and your agent makes the alarm in your account.
Use LFG Alarm to wake me at 7:00 every weekday, call it "Get up". Then tell me the next date and time it will ring.
Already have the LFG Alarm app and connected it to your AI agent?
Why it works. A repeating time alarm and the next ring read back, which proves the key, the server and the model's tool use all work.
More ideas: "Make a friends alarm for Saturday at 9am called Golf and add my friend [username]", "Ring me when SOL hits $150", or "List my alarms". Through a key, LFG Alarm can set time, price, post, event, wallet, trader and anything alarms, pick a sound or a look from the library, and add your friends or a whole group once you confirm. See Using LFG Alarm from your AI agent.
If it does not work
- The model never calls the tool. Try a larger model with tool use, or say "use LFG Alarm" in the message.
- 401 Unauthorized. The header must be
Bearerand the key. Make a new key if this one was removed in Settings. - The server will not start in AnythingLLM. Check the JSON is valid: no trailing commas, quotes around every name.
