Before you start
- Get the LFG Alarm app on your phone from Google Play or the App Store, and sign in. Your AI agent makes the alarms; the app is what rings them.
- Grok Build installed. If you don't have it yet, see x.ai/build.
- Have your LFG Alarm sign-in handy. You'll sign in once, on lfg.gm, to let Grok use your account.
Connect it
- In a terminal, add the server:
grok mcp add --transport http --scope user lfg-alarm https://mcp.lfg.gm
--scope user adds it for every project. Use --scope project to add it to just the project you're in.
Sign in. The first time Grok uses LFG Alarm, a browser opens on lfg.gm: sign in with your LFG Alarm account and tap Allow. If no browser opens, type
/mcpsin Grok Build, pick lfg-alarm and pressi.Check it's there:
grok mcp list
These steps follow xAI's own docs. If a command has changed, run grok mcp --help.
Use it while Grok works
Grok Build runs long jobs: a refactor across a repo, a test suite, a migration. Ask it to set a one-off alarm for when the job should be done, then step away. Your phone rings out loud, which is much harder to miss than a terminal bell.
- Theo asks Grok to set a 45 minute alarm called "Review the PR" before it starts a big rename, then goes for a walk.
- Priya runs an overnight data backfill and asks Grok for an 🔮 Anything alarm. Grok hands back a private link and adds a
curl -X POSTto it as the script's last line, so her phone rings when the job really ends. See How to make any app, script or feed ring your phone.
Try it
Once it's connected, ask in plain words:
Have your AI agent make it.
Paste this into ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or any AI agent that can add a connector, not into the LFG Alarm app. The setup steps come with it: get the LFG Alarm app, connect it to your agent once, and your agent makes the alarm in your account.
This migration will take about 30 minutes. Use LFG Alarm to set an alarm for 30 minutes from now called "Check the migration", so I can step away.
Already have the LFG Alarm app and connected it to your AI agent?
Why it works. A long job in the terminal is the moment to leave your desk, and the alarm brings you back when it should be done.
More ideas: "Wake me at 7:00 every weekday and call it Standup", "Make a friends alarm for Friday at 4:00pm called Release and add my friends [username] and [username]", or "List my alarms". Grok can set time, price, post, event, wallet, trader and Anything alarms; list, change, turn on or off and delete them; and add your friends or a group once you confirm. See Using LFG Alarm from your AI agent.
If it does not work
- The browser never opens. Type
/mcpsin Grok Build, pick lfg-alarm and pressito start the sign-in. - LFG Alarm isn't in
grok mcp list. Check the address is exactlyhttps://mcp.lfg.gm, and that you added it with the scope you're working in. - Something else is off. Run
grok mcp doctor lfg-alarm, which checks the connection and says what's wrong. - Still stuck? Write to us from the support page.
Disconnect
Run grok mcp remove lfg-alarm. Your alarms stay in your LFG Alarm account and keep ringing.
