# Connect LFG Alarm to Grok Build

AI agents · https://lfg.gm/agents/grok-build · Updated 2026-10-29

To connect LFG Alarm to Grok Build, xAI's coding agent for the terminal, run `grok mcp add --transport http lfg-alarm https://mcp.lfg.gm` and sign in with your LFG Alarm account the first time Grok uses it. Then ask Grok for an alarm while it works ("ring me in 30 minutes, when this migration should be done"), and it rings on your phone. LFG Alarm is a social alarm clock for iPhone and Android.

## Before you start

- **Get the LFG Alarm app on your phone** from Google Play or the App Store, and sign in. Your AI agent makes the alarms; the app is what rings them.
- **Grok Build** installed. If you don't have it yet, see [x.ai/build](https://x.ai/build).
- Have your LFG Alarm sign-in handy. You'll sign in once, on lfg.gm, to let Grok use your account.

## Connect it

1. In a terminal, add the server:

```bash
grok mcp add --transport http --scope user lfg-alarm https://mcp.lfg.gm
```

`--scope user` adds it for every project. Use `--scope project` to add it to just the project you're in.

2. Sign in. The first time Grok uses LFG Alarm, a browser opens on lfg.gm: sign in with your LFG Alarm account and tap **Allow**. If no browser opens, type `/mcps` in Grok Build, pick **lfg-alarm** and press `i`.

3. Check it's there:

```bash
grok mcp list
```

These steps follow xAI's own docs. If a command has changed, run `grok mcp --help`.

## Use it while Grok works

Grok Build runs long jobs: a refactor across a repo, a test suite, a migration. Ask it to set a one-off alarm for when the job should be done, then step away. Your phone rings out loud, which is much harder to miss than a terminal bell.

- **Theo** asks Grok to set a 45 minute alarm called "Review the PR" before it starts a big rename, then goes for a walk.
- **Priya** runs an overnight data backfill and asks Grok for an **🔮 Anything** alarm. Grok hands back a private link and adds a `curl -X POST` to it as the script's last line, so her phone rings when the job really ends. See [How to make any app, script or feed ring your phone](https://lfg.gm/webhook-alarm).

## Try it

Once it's connected, ask in plain words:

**Try this.** Paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or another AI agent that has the LFG Alarm connector (https://mcp.lfg.gm), not into the LFG Alarm app. The person needs the LFG Alarm app on their phone.

> This migration will take about 30 minutes. Use LFG Alarm to set an alarm for 30 minutes from now called "Check the migration", so I can step away.

Why it works: A long job in the terminal is the moment to leave your desk, and the alarm brings you back when it should be done.

More ideas: "Wake me at 7:00 every weekday and call it Standup", "Make a friends alarm for Friday at 4:00pm called Release and add my friends [username] and [username]", or "List my alarms". Grok can set time, price, post, event, wallet, trader and Anything alarms; list, change, turn on or off and delete them; and add your friends or a group once you confirm. See [Using LFG Alarm from your AI agent](https://lfg.gm/wiki/ai-agents).

## If it does not work

- **The browser never opens.** Type `/mcps` in Grok Build, pick **lfg-alarm** and press `i` to start the sign-in.
- **LFG Alarm isn't in `grok mcp list`.** Check the address is exactly `https://mcp.lfg.gm`, and that you added it with the scope you're working in.
- **Something else is off.** Run `grok mcp doctor lfg-alarm`, which checks the connection and says what's wrong.
- **Still stuck?** Write to us from the [support page](https://lfg.gm/support).

## Disconnect

Run `grok mcp remove lfg-alarm`. Your alarms stay in your LFG Alarm account and keep ringing.

## Questions

### Can Grok ring my phone when a script finishes?
Yes, with an Anything alarm. Ask Grok to make one, and it returns a private link: one POST to that link rings every phone that joined. After it rings, the alarm stays quiet for the cooldown you picked, so a retry loop only rings once.

### How does it ring?
A time alarm is a real alarm on iPhone and Android and rings through silent mode. An Anything alarm rings full screen on Android; on iPhone it arrives as a time-sensitive alert with the alarm's sound, so keep the ringer on.

### Does LFG Alarm see my code?
No. LFG Alarm only receives what Grok sends when it uses LFG Alarm's tools.

## About LFG Alarm

LFG Alarm is a social alarm clock for iPhone, iPad and Android. It rings for times and for moments (a post on X, a stream going live, a token price, a wallet buying, an event starting), and one shared link makes every phone that joined ring together. Rocco, the cat inside the app, keeps watch and wakes you up.
