# The 10 best alarm clock apps in 2026

Comparisons · https://lfg.gm/best-alarm-clock-apps · Updated 2026-10-16

The best alarm clock app depends on what you need it to do: get you out of bed, track your sleep, or wake you and your friends for a moment that matters. This list covers the ten we think are best in 2026, from number ten to number one. We make LFG Alarm, so we put it first and say why; each of the other nine is the best we found at one job, and we say who each one is for.

Ratings and download counts are from the US App Store and Google Play as of 16 October 2026, and change all the time.

## What makes an alarm clock app good in 2026

Most people do not wake on the first ring, and the research says that is normal. In about 3 million sleep sessions from 21,222 Sleep Cycle users, about 56% ended with a snooze. In a survey of 1,732 adults, 69% said they use snooze or several alarms at least sometimes, averaging 22 minutes, and a lab test in the same study found a 30-minute snooze did not harm habitual snoozers' sleep. In a study of 450 full-time salaried workers, 57% were habitual snoozers.

Feeling groggy is normal too. Sleep inertia, the drop in alertness right after waking, is worst when you are woken from deep sleep and, without major sleep loss, rarely lasts more than about 30 minutes. That is the idea behind smart alarms that wake you in a lighter phase.

And people get up more reliably when someone else is involved. In a randomised trial of 166 adults in a weight-loss programme, 95% of those who joined with friends completed it, against 76% of those who joined alone. A meta-analysis of 241 studies found that the presence of others slightly improves performance on simple tasks, and getting out of bed is a simple task.

So we judged each app on four things:

| What we looked for | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| It rings, even on silent | An alarm that a Focus mode or the silent switch can mute is not an alarm. On iPhone, apps can now use Apple's AlarmKit for this |
| Snooze on your terms | Most people snooze. A good app lets you set how long and how many times, not just whether |
| A reason to get up | A mission, a gentle light-sleep window, or a friend who can see whether you did |
| It fits what you wake for | A solo morning, your sleep data, or a group and the moments that have no fixed time |

## 1. LFG Alarm

![LFG Alarm on Google Play, 16 October 2026](https://lfg.gm/compare/shots/lfg-alarm.jpg)

A social alarm clock that rings for times and for moments. Besides ordinary time alarms, it can ring when an account on X posts something you described, when a Twitch or YouTube channel goes live, when a token reaches a price, when a wallet or a trader makes a big trade, when an event you pasted from Luma or Partiful is about to start, or when any app or script calls its private link. Share an alarm by link and every phone that joined rings in the same second, with a wake board of who got up first. Hundreds of songs, voices and sirens, and Rocco, the cat inside, does the watching. Free to download.

**Best for:** anyone who wants an alarm for more than a time: friends, group chats, fans, hosts, traders and builders.

**Why we put it first:** it is the only app on this list that does both jobs, waking you and your friends together, and waking you for the moments that have no fixed time. If all you need is a solo morning alarm, any of the nine above will serve you well.

## How we chose

We looked at the most downloaded and best rated alarm apps on both stores, read their own listings and help pages, and scored them on the four things above. Then we picked the best at each job: getting you up, tracking sleep, and waking more than one person. Apps that have not been updated in years were left out.

## Questions

### What is the best free alarm clock app?
For a solo alarm, the one already on your phone (Apple Clock or Google Clock) is free and reliable. For alarms you share with friends or that ring for moments, LFG Alarm is free for time alarms, sharing and riding.

### Is it bad to hit snooze?
Not necessarily. Most people do it, and a 2023 lab study found a 30-minute snooze did not harm habitual snoozers' sleep. What helps is setting snooze on purpose: how long, and how many times.

### What is a smart alarm clock app?
One that decides the exact minute to ring by watching something. Sleep Cycle and Sleep as Android watch your sleep and ring in a lighter phase. LFG Alarm watches for moments, such as a post or an event starting. See [what an AI alarm clock is](https://lfg.gm/ai-alarm-clock).

### What is the best alarm app for heavy sleepers?
Alarmy, if you want to be forced through a mission. LFG Alarm, if you want sirens and shouting voices plus a friend who can see whether you got up. See [the alarm for heavy sleepers](https://lfg.gm/alarm-for-heavy-sleepers).

### Which alarm app can wake my friends too?
Galarm and LFG Alarm both ring everyone on a shared alarm. LFG Alarm can also ring the group for a moment, such as a post going up or an event starting.
