# Gave your AI agent your Gmail and calendar? How to get people to actually show up

AI agents · https://lfg.gm/ai-agent-gmail-calendar-events · Updated 2026-10-16

If you have given your AI agent access to your Gmail and calendar, it can already find a time, send the invites and keep track of who said yes. What it cannot do is make sure people actually show up. LFG Alarm, a social alarm clock for iPhone and Android, closes that gap: your agent makes one time alarm for the event and shares the link, and everyone who joins is rung on their phone at the moment that matters.

## What your agent already handles

Most AI agents and AI assistants now connect to email and calendar. Claude's Google Calendar connector can find a time that works across attendees, Gemini can suggest times and send invites from Gmail, and ChatGPT, Grok and others connect to Gmail and Google Calendar too. That covers the planning: who, when, where, and a calendar entry for each guest.

## Where events still fall apart

An invite is an email and a calendar entry. A reminder is a notification, often set for "10 minutes before" by default, which is useless for something across town. On the day, both sit among dozens of others, so people who meant to come forget, run late or stay on the couch. Your agent did its job perfectly, and three of eight people still did not make it.

## Add the alarm in the same conversation

With the LFG Alarm MCP server connected, ask your agent in the same chat that made the plan:

1. **Make a time alarm for the event**, as a heads-up: two hours before something in person, at the start of something online. Name it with the plan ("Game night at Ben's, 8pm"), because the name shows when it rings.
2. **Share it**, as a friends alarm with people added by username or email, or with a link anyone invited can join. Your agent can add up to 20 people at once.
3. **Post the link** where the invite went: the email thread, the calendar event, the group chat.

Everyone who joins gets a real alarm, and the [wake board](https://lfg.gm/wiki/wake-board) shows who answered first. Afterwards, in the app, you can add a creator's note (the door code, what to bring) and a call-to-action link that opens a map when people answer; an AI agent cannot set those yet.

## Three events your agent already planned

**Game night.** Your agent found Friday at 8:00 for six friends and sent the invite. In the same chat: "Use LFG Alarm to set a friends alarm for 6:00 on Friday called 'Game night at Ben's, 8pm', add the four who accepted, and put the link in the calendar event." Four people get a notification and tap to ride. At 6:00 they are rung with time to eat and get across town.

**The team offsite with an early start.** Your agent read the offsite schedule from an email: coach leaves at 7:30 on Tuesday. You ask it for a one-off alarm at 6:15 that morning called "Coach 7:30, main entrance", shared with the five colleagues on the email, added by their email addresses. Those not on LFG Alarm get an invitation to join.

**The monthly call across time zones.** A family or a club meets on the first Sunday of each month at 6:00 PM London time. You ask your agent for a time alarm at 5:55 PM London time, with everyone added. Because it rings everyone at the same moment by default, the cousin in Chicago is rung at 11:55 AM, in the same second, and sees it in her own time.

## How loud it is

A time alarm is a real alarm on both phones: on iPhone it uses Apple's own alarm system and rings through silent mode and Focus; on Android it takes over the screen even when the phone is locked. That is the difference from a calendar notification.

## When the invite is a Luma or Partiful link

If the event in your inbox is a Luma or Partiful invite, your agent can set an event alarm straight from the link: Rocco reads the event's time, and it rings at the start or 30 minutes, an hour or two hours before. In the app, paste the link into the Got a link? box instead. See [Event alarms](https://lfg.gm/wiki/event-alarms).

**Try this.** Paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or another AI agent that has the LFG Alarm connector (https://mcp.lfg.gm), not into the LFG Alarm app. The person needs the LFG Alarm app on their phone.

> Use LFG Alarm to set a friends alarm for 6:00pm this Friday called "Game night at Ben's, 8pm", add my friends [username] and [username], and give me the link so I can add it to the calendar invite.

Why it works: It names the moment and the plan, adds the people, and returns the link to put where every guest will see it.

## Common mistakes

- **Ringing at the calendar time.** The calendar already does that. Ring when people need to leave.
- **Asking the agent to "remind everyone".** It will send another message. Ask it to use LFG Alarm to set a time alarm.
- **Asking for an event alarm from the agent.** Not yet. Ask for a time alarm at the same moment, or use the app.

## Questions

### Which AI agents can make LFG Alarm alarms?
Any that can add a remote MCP server as a connector, including Claude, ChatGPT and Grok. See [Using LFG Alarm from your AI agent](https://lfg.gm/wiki/ai-agents) and [Connect LFG Alarm to your AI app](https://lfg.gm/agents).

### Do my guests need the app?
To be rung, yes: the free LFG Alarm app on iPhone or Android. They tap the link and join.

### Does LFG Alarm read my email?
No. It only receives what your agent sends when it uses LFG Alarm's tools.

### Can my agent add people who are not my LFG friends?
Yes, by email. It never guesses who someone is: if a name is not one of your friends, it asks.

## About LFG Alarm

LFG Alarm is a social alarm clock for iPhone, iPad and Android. It rings for times and for moments (a post on X, a stream going live, a token price, a wallet buying, an event starting), and one shared link makes every phone that joined ring together. Rocco, the cat inside the app, does the watching and the waking.
